International Night 2024: List and Schedule of Cultural Performances

7:00 - 7:05

Welcome

Thank you for coming! These following performers are very talented and very brave for performing here tonight. We have dancing, Taekwondo, singing, poem reading, piano playing and 2 drum performances!
 

7:05-7:10

Japan (dance)

Music: Paprika 

We will begin tonight’s performances with our largest group of dancers- 14 children*! One is even as young as Pre-K!

 

7:10-7:15

Estonia (piano)

 The Pesin brothers are playing 2 pieces each*. The younger brother, Chris, is in 1st grade. Sacha is a graduating 5th grader this year!
 

7:15-7:20

South Korea (Taekwondo)

Music: BTS -Butter

 Siblings- (a 4th grader and 2nd grader*) are joined by their friend showcasing some fancy Taekwondo moves.

 

7:20-7:25

Nepal (dance)

 Niva Sharma is a second grader here at GP. She will perform a Nepali dance that takes place in a rice field. The song is about the love for home.
 

7:25-7:30

China (dance)

6 of our GP students  will perform a traditional dance* known to bring good luck and scare away all evil. This is a celebratory dance performed on many Chinese holidays.
 

7:30-7:35

Singapore (piano)

Music: Rasa Sayang (I Feel Love)

Ruby Tjan is in 3rd grade here at GP. She will be playing a folk song popular in Singapore. She just started playing piano last year.
 

7:35-7:40

Philippines (song)

Sophia and Sandra Rosas are sisters. Sophia is in 3rd grade and her sister is in First Grade.
 

7:40-7:45

Greece (poem)

Sophia Laffin is in 4th grade. This Greek poem is about independence and Greek victory.

 

7:45-7:50

Grenada (dance)

Music: Heel and Toe, and Bele

Isis O’Neale-Saimac is a 4th grader here at GP. She will be joined on stage by her dad. 

 

7:50- 7:55

Kyrgyzstan (song)

Music: Ak Kayin

Sima Esenalieva is in 4th grade. She will  be singing the song in the Kyrgyz language.

 

7:55-8:15

Brazil (Capoeira)

A group of 4 students (2 3rd graders and 2 5th graders)* will perform the oldest martial art in Brazil. Capoeira combines drumming, singing, playing special instruments and even acrobatics!

 

8:15-8:20

Ghana (drum)

Kelvin Quaye (with his mom and dad) will perform Kpanlogo, a traditional rhythm from Ghana. This rhythm will be played on the Kpanlogo drum, thought to be a precursor to the Conga drum.

 

8:20-8:25

Japan (piano)

Kaname Iyadomi ( a 5th grader) will play a song from  a movie by Japanese film maker Takeshi Kitano. She has been playing piano for 7 years!
