The non-competitive K-4 Science Fair began in 2002, and is held in the Spring.
Volunteers visit every classroom and do a science project demonstration to get kids excited about the fair.
The night of the fair, the multipurpose room and media center are filled to the brim with excited students and their projects. GPES parents and community members who work as scientists at local institutions such as NIH, NASA, and the Univ. of MD interview each student.
Every participant also receives a Science Fair button, Science Fair pencil, and a certificate. The K-4 Science Fair gets kids excited about science, and teaches them the scientific method in a fun, hands-on way.

A Science Fair Logo Button contest is held before the Fair. It is judged by a class of Towson University graphic design students. The winning design becomes a button that is given to all participants. The designs are displayed at the fair.
The K-4 Science Fair is a fun tradition at GPES.
If you'd like to volunteer for the Science Fair contact the coordinator, Anita Iverson.
