WHAT IS THE PTA?

PTA is the Parent-Teacher Association. Parents/guardians and teachers work

together to make the school an exciting place with an enriching and stimulating

environment where children can develop their full potential.

SHOULD I JOIN THE PTA?

You bet! Every parent or guardian and every teacher and staff member should join. It

will help keep you connected to what’s happening at Garrett Park, and you’ll know

you’re helping support all the great activities the PTA plans and sponsors each year.

The GPES grade with the most members

will receive a special prize from the PTA!

SO, WHAT DOES THE PTA DO ANYWAY?

The PTA advocates for our children on many issues that have an impact on their

school life. We help fund:

EDUCATIONAL ENRICHMENT

• Cultural assemblies
• Raccoon Record” (student publication of creative writing)
• License for yearly musical
• Supplies for after-school clubs

CAPITAL BUDGET

Books and other items that support the learning experience at Garrett Park, to

make up for funding that Montgomery County Public Schools does not provide.

CLASSROOM SUPPORT

• Help every teacher buy supplies for the classroom
• Organize parent volunteers to help teachers and staff

We also sponsor activities such as:

• Hands-On Science
• Big Learning
• Foreign Language in Elementary Schools (FLES)
• Young Rembrandt art classes
• Drama and Musical Theater classes
• Homework Club

and special family activities like:

• International Night
• Back-to-School Picnic
• Spring Fair
• Scholastic Book Fair
• Bingo Night
• Science Fair

Plus offering the School Phone & Address Directory free to all PTA members.

Joining the PTA is easy!

All parents, teachers and members of the community
are invited to join the Garrett Park Elementary School
Parent Teacher Association (GPES PTA).

Please take just a few minutes to fill out the membership form and show your commitment to the education of our children!
